How It Works

Get going with a few simple steps

1Sign Up and Choose a Plan

Create an account, choose a plan, and specify your default coordinate system (SRID).

2Import Some Alignments

Import your horizontal road alignments one at a time from WKT or bulk import from LandXML.

3Click an Alignment Thumbnail

Navigate to Alignments, click an alignment thumbnail to view alignment details.

4Pan and Zoom the Web Map

Use the mouse scroll to zoom in on your alignment, click and drag to pan around your alignment and alignment grid.

5Click Inside the Alignment Grid

In the OpenLayers map, click inside the alignment grid to get the station, offset and coordinates of the location you clicked.

6Save the Point You Clicked

Click Save Point to save the point information (station, offset, coordinates, alignment). Navigate to Points to see a list of all your points.

7Click To View Your Point

In the Points list, click the eye icon (on the right, under actions) to view your point again along with the associated alignment.

8Search All Alignments for Point

Click 'Search All Alignments for this Point' to see all the stations and offsets for all alignments within range of the point.

9See Point Along Other Alignment

Click 'Get S/O or Point' to see your point along the other alignment. Save the point again with the new station and offset.

1Are spiral curves supported?

We may be able to support spiral curves. Please contact us for details.

2Is it possible to get stations and offsets for multiple road alignments?

Yes, you can obtain stations and offsets as long as they are within range of your road alignments.

3Do I need an internet connection?

An internet connection is required to use the Road Alignments Web App.

4Can I view road alignments in 3D?

At this time we only support horizontal measurements and a straight-down (non-3D) view.

5Can I use it on my smartphone?

Yes, as long as you have a connection to the Internet.

6Are both feet and meters supported?

Yes! We support coordinate systems in both feet and meters!

7Is there support for my coordinate system?

If QGIS supports it, we support it!

8Can I use my own (custom) basemap in OpenLayers and QWC2?

Yes, XYZ tiles are supported in both MapLayers and the QWC2 Web Client.

9Can we get a PDF created with station, offset, and coordinates?

Yes, this is possible but currently requires some customization.
